KC Chamber Announces New Small Business Specialty Award for Artists and Creatives

The Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce has added a new award to its Small Business Celebration. The Luminary Arts and Creative Small Business Award is a specialty award designed to honor an entrepreneur who has put their artistic talent to work as a small business. The award will be announced at the KC Chamber’s annual Small Business Awards Luncheon in June along with four other specialty small business awards and the Mr. K Award/Small Business of the Year.  Read Article

United Way of Greater Kansas City and the Chiefs Create #KCStrong Fund

Like so many of you, we are devasted by the tragic events at yesterday’s parade.  United Way acted quickly to help our community turn its outrage into action and to begin building a path forward that is rooted in healing and restoration. This afternoon we launched the #KCStrong Fund in partnership with the Chiefs with the aim of raising funds to support the victims of yesterday’s tragedy and their families, investing in violence prevention and response organizations including mental health support services, and supporting first responders including the police. Today, as our community came together to celebrate, a few made the choice to inflict fear and pain. This disruption of a joyful moment for our city results in a lot of emotion, including anger, fear and grief. We grieve for the victims and their families who faced the unimaginable today.
