KC Chamber

Today, as our community came together to celebrate, a few made the choice to inflict fear and pain. This disruption of a joyful moment for our city results in a lot of emotion, including anger, fear and grief. We grieve for the victims and their families who faced the unimaginable today. Our thoughts are with you as well as all of those affected by this senseless tragedy. No one should ever have to worry about loved ones not coming home from a celebration due to violence.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out to us inquiring about the safety of our staff. While shaken by today’s events, we are all safe. However, like all of you, we also cannot accept that this tragedy happened in Kansas City.

We are grateful for our local, state and federal law enforcement partners who didn’t hesitate to run toward the danger. Their rapid response and vigilance prevented additional casualties and helped quickly secure the scene. Our hospital, fire and EMT partners are also to be commended for immediately jumping into action to provide all necessary medical care to victims. We are thankful for you all.

As the investigation continues and more information becomes available, we will continue to be a ready partner for the city, our elected leaders and the Kansas City Police Department as we all work to create safe environments for the people who live and work in a community we all love.
