FROM THE KC CHAMBER’S PRESIDENT AND CEO
On Tuesday, April 8, Kansas City, Missouri has the opportunity to vote for a more vibrant, welcoming, and prosperous region — one where every resident, student, family, and business can thrive.
The KC Chamber proudly supports the bond measure for Kansas City Public Schools. This investment will create safer, more modern learning environments and expand career and college readiness programs. KCPS has not passed a bond since 1967, leading to more than $1 billion in deferred maintenance needs, making this measure both urgent and long overdue. A strong public school system strengthens our workforce, uplifts neighborhoods, and fuels our region’s future.
Across the metro, we encourage support for local school district funding measures that will ensure students (no matter their zip code) have access to the tools and opportunities they deserve. Education is the heartbeat of a dynamic region, and when we invest in our schools, we invest in a brighter tomorrow for everyone.
We also support the renewal of Kansas City, Missouri’s ¼-cent Public Safety Sales Tax. This is a smart, no-tax-increase measure that will continue funding for first responders, critical equipment, and emergency response services. It will also provide funding for a much-needed municipal detention facility. A safe city is a strong city where people and businesses feel confident to grow, connect, and build community.
And we’re pleased to support Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City in their expansion efforts. By approving the purchase of city parkland for the expansion of Longfellow House, this measure will help more families stay close to their children during medical treatment, reinforcing Kansas City’s leadership in pediatric healthcare and its deep commitment to compassion-driven care.
These initiatives are more than policy: they’re about building the kind of region we all believe in. A place that’s innovative, caring, and full of opportunity. On April 8, let’s vote for progress. Let’s vote for our people. Let’s vote for the future of our Greater Kansas City region.
