FROM THE KC CHAMBER’S PRESIDENT AND CEO
Momentum around a potential downtown home for the Kansas City Royals is building, and the next few days matter. The KC Chamber believes support at this moment is critical to allowing a credible public-private partnership to take shape, one that is essential to keeping the Royals in the region for generations to come, an outcome we have consistently advocated for alongside the Chiefs throughout these discussions. The ordinance introduced by Kansas City, Missouri, Mayor Quinton Lucas represents an important step forward, creating a path for continued negotiations around a potential downtown home in the Washington Square Park/Crown Center area. This is not a final decision, but it is a pivotal moment in shaping what comes next.
A downtown ballpark represents more than a new venue. It’s an opportunity to invest in our economy, energize our urban core, and reinforce Kansas City’s position as a premier sports destination. Just as important, it’s about keeping a cornerstone franchise right here in our region for decades to come.
Now is the time for the business community to lead. We need your voice—clearly and quickly. I encourage you to take three simple actions:
- Add your organization’s name to the growing list of supporters
- Share your perspective directly with the Mayor and City Council
- Show up, engage positively, and be part of the conversation in the days ahead
Decisions are moving forward at both the committee and full Council level this week. Visible, unified support can make a meaningful difference.
Kansas City has never shied away from big moments. This is one of them. Let’s come together as a region to support a path forward that keeps the Royals where they belong and positions Kansas City for long-term success. Bring the Crown Downtown.
