CENTURIONS ADVOCACY PANEL – IMMIGRATION

The Centurions Alumni Welcoming & Belonging Committee is hosting Immigration in Kansas City: Challenges, Choices, and Change as one of their initiatives for the year. This panel will explore the realities of immigration in our community, highlight key challenges and opportunities, and encourage thoughtful dialogue around this important issue. Register here>>

APEX 2026-2027 LEGACY PROJECT APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN

Each year, the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce Centurions Leadership Program plans, leads, and mobilizes Centurions volunteers to complete a Legacy Project for one Kansas City nonprofit, with the intent to bring a long-lasting benefit to the Kansas City community. Do you know of a local non-profit interested that could benefit from this opportunity? This opportunity is open to all area non-profits!

THURSDAY, April 30 | 4:00-5:30 P.M.

The Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce’s Centurions Leadership Program is a two-year program focused on building community awareness through civic opportunities and on community issues that affect Greater Kansas City. The mission is to prepare a representative cross-section of the community’s emerging leaders for their role in shaping the future of Greater Kansas City. Interested professionals around the Greater Kansas City region can attend our next information session on Thursday, April 30, from 4:00-5:30 p.m. at the Kansas City Urban Youth Academy to learn more about the program. A CENTURY OF STEWARDSHIP: CONVERSATIONS ON KANSAS CITY’S COUNCIL-MANAGER FORM OF GOVERNMENT

TUESDAY, APRIL 21 | 5:00-7:00 P.M.

This year marks a historic milestone for Kansas City. It has been 100 years since the city adopted the City Manager–Council form of government, a structure that continues to shape how Kansas City is governed today. Join Mayor Quinton Lucas and City Manager Mario Vasquez for a fireside conversation on how the system works in practice, the lessons learned from leading a major city, and what the future may hold for Kansas City. WELCOMING AND BELONGING SYMPOSIUM SERIES: SCREENING OF THE ROAD OF RESISTANCE WITH PRODUCER NICO GILES

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 29 | 3:30-5:30 P.M.

Join us for a special screening of Land of Opportunity: The Road of Resistance, Part I with filmmaker Nico Giles. Inspired by Richard Rothstein’s book The Color of Law, the documentary explores the development of Highway 71 in Kansas City and the urban renewal policies that displaced more than 10,000 families.

Following the film, Giles will share insights from the filmmaking process and lead a conversation about the lasting impact of these policies on our communities today. The evening will conclude with a casual happy hour and light bites. Register here >>
