Zhou B Art Center KC is proud to present SYMBIOSIS, a new exhibition curated by Imagine That KC, opening Friday, October 2, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Zhou B Art Center KC.

Since 2012, Imagine That KC has cultivated a creative community where artists with intellectual and developmental disabilities are supported in developing their artistic practices, exploring new mediums, and sharing their work with audiences in Kansas City and beyond. Their work centers artists as working creatives with individual voices, ideas, processes, and perspectives.

“Through themes of nature, repetition, transformation, and shared experience, SYMBIOSIS invites audiences to consider how creativity can grow through exchange and how individual artistic practices can exist alongside and influence one another.

Symbiosis celebrates creativity as an organic and unique happening that interconnects us all. Our studio functions as its own ecological system where ideas can grow, evolve, and intertwine and this exhibition is evidence of those relationships.” Says Program Director of Imagine That KC, Amy Norman.

For Zhou B Art Center KC, this collaboration reflects an ongoing commitment to creating opportunities for artists and building meaningful connections across Kansas City’s creative community. It also creates an opportunity for audiences to encounter new perspectives, discover artists, and experience the many ways creative expression can take shape.

Guests are invited to experience SYMBIOSIS during its Opening Reception on Friday, October 2 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The evening will offer an opportunity to explore the exhibition, experience the work of participating artists, and celebrate the collaboration between Imagine That KC and Zhou B Art Center KC.

The opening reception is free and open to the public. Guests are encouraged to RSVP in advance through Eventbrite.
