FROM THE KC CHAMBER’S PRESIDENT AND CEO
Each year, one of the most meaningful moments at the KC Chamber is when we shine a light on the extraordinary women who lead with purpose, elevate others, and make our region better for everyone. The ATHENA Awards do just that by recognizing women whose professional achievements are matched by their commitment to lifting up future generations.
That’s why I’m proud to share that nominations for the 2025 ATHENA Leadership Award and ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award will open on Tuesday, May 27. These honors go to individuals who not only lead with excellence, but also embody the spirit of collaboration, courage, and community impact — values we believe are essential for strong, inclusive leadership.
The ATHENA Awards, inspired by the Greek goddess known for wisdom and strength, have recognized more than 7,000 leaders worldwide. Here in Kansas City, we’ve had the privilege of presenting these awards since 2001 and each year, the honorees remind us of the powerful ripple effect one leader can have. In 2024, we celebrated Qiana Thomason of Health Forward Foundation and Kamera Meaney of University Health — two women whose leadership continues to inspire real change in our community.
If you know someone who fits that same bold and generous spirit, I encourage you to submit a nomination starting May 27. Nominees will then be invited to complete a full application. Let’s continue to celebrate and champion the women who shape our future. Learn more and get ready to nominate.
