Re-Entry Simulation | The State of Public Safety | KC Chamber Board of Directors Nominations | and more...

FROM THE KC CHAMBER’S PRESIDENT AND CEO

What does it really take to rebuild your life after incarceration? For thousands of returning citizens, the answer is far more complicated than you might think. From securing an ID to finding employment, housing, and healthcare—every step forward can feel like two steps back.

That’s why I’m inviting you to join us on Friday, September 5, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the KC Chamber Board Room (30 W. Pershing Rd., KCMO) for a Re-Entry Simulation hosted in partnership with KC 360. This immersive experience puts you in the shoes of someone navigating the realities of reentry. It’s an eye-opening, hands-on opportunity to understand the barriers too many face, and to consider how we as business and civic leaders can help remove them.

This simulation aligns directly with the KC Chamber’s strategic priorities of workforce development, public safety, and inclusive prosperity. By better understanding the obstacles returning citizens face, we can identify new pathways to employment, support second-chance hiring, and reduce recidivism—all of which contribute to a safer, stronger, and more vibrant region. A thriving workforce requires focusing on removing barriers, and this experience will challenge us to think differently about how we build opportunity for every member of our regional community.

Whether you’re in HR, management, or simply want to deepen your understanding of these issues, I promise you’ll walk away with valuable insight and a renewed commitment to meaningful change. The event is free to attend, but space is limited. Learn more and register today.

NEIGHBORHOOD NETWORKING AT THE CHILDREN’S PLACE

Start your Friday with purpose at our next Neighborhood Networking event, hosted by The Children’s Place, Greater Kansas City’s specialized trauma treatment center for young children. Join us Friday, July 25, from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at 6401 Rockhill Rd., where you’ll meet fellow KC Chamber members and regional professionals, enjoy light refreshments, and get an inside look at the life-changing work being done to help children heal and thrive. This event is free for KC Chamber members and $15 for non-members. It’s a great opportunity to build meaningful connections while supporting a mission that matters. Learn more and register now!

STATE OF PUBLIC SAFETY

Join us for the KC Chamber’s State of Public Safety on Thursday, July 31, from 8 to 10 a.m. in the KC Chamber Board Room at Union Station (30 W. Pershing Rd., KCMO). This powerful forum brings together top leaders in law enforcement, fire, EMS, and local government to examine the current state of safety across the Kansas City region.

Building on last year’s sold-out event, this year’s program features the latest data, real-world strategies, and collaborative solutions to address violence prevention and emergency response. You’ll hear directly from those on the front lines and learn how improving public safety requires all of us—business, civic, and community leaders—working together to create real, lasting change.

Whether your organization is already engaged in public safety efforts or looking to get involved, this is your opportunity to connect, learn, and lead. Register now! Thank you to our State of Series Presenting Sponsor, UMB Bank.

HEALTHY KC NETWORKING FORUM – WELLNESS PROGRAMS: ONE SIZE DOES NOT FIT ALL

What does wellness look like in your workplace? For some, it’s access to mental health resources. For others, it’s flexibility, fitness, or simply feeling seen and supported. But one thing is clear—wellness programs that succeed are those that reflect the people they serve. That’s the focus of the next Healthy KC Networking Forum, happening Wednesday, August 6, from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City (1400 Baltimore Ave., KCMO).

Whether your team is remote, on-site, hybrid, hourly, or salaried, this forum offers practical solutions for tailoring wellness initiatives across distinct roles, schedules, and access levels. Learn how to get leadership buy-in, build a network of internal advocates, and communicate your programs in ways that resonate—no matter the medium. Plus, enjoy free breakfast and the chance to connect with others who care about creating healthier, more supportive workplaces. Register now!
