FROM THE KC CHAMBER’S PRESIDENT AND CEO

A bet is a bet – even when it hurts. As President and CEO of the KC Chamber, I take great pride in supporting our city, our businesses and, of course, our championship-caliber Kansas City Chiefs. That’s why today is a tough one. Because thanks to a Super Bowl wager with my friend Chellie Cameron, President and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia, I’m being forced to do something I never imagined—wearing Eagles green to our Board Meeting.

Now, let’s be clear—this is a VERY rare occurrence. The Chiefs don’t lose Super Bowls often. In fact, over the last five years, they’ve built a dynasty, bringing home three Lombardi trophies, dominating the AFC, and proving time and again that Kansas City is the true football capital of America. Our team continues to set the standard, and I have no doubt we’ll be back in the big game next year—probably facing another Chamber wager for someone else.

That said, while I may have to suffer through this moment, at least our friendly bet is supporting a great cause. The KC Chamber has also donated to Jason Kelce’s BePhilly Foundation, which helps kids in Philadelphia. And while I don’t love the reason, I do appreciate the opportunity to support the next generation. The brotherly love between Jason and Travis makes this part of the loss a little more tolerable as well.

A big thanks to Chellie and her team for making this fun—but make no mistake, this won’t happen again anytime soon. Looking forward to another incredible season next year, Chiefs Kingdom!
