FROM THE KC CHAMBER’S PRESIDENT AND CEO
As FIFA World Cup 2026™ gets closer, Kansas City isn’t just hosting matches; we’re becoming a true home base for the world’s game, with real opportunities for local businesses to grow, connect, and shine on a global stage.
Our region has now been selected by four national teams for official Team Base Camps, underscoring the scale of what’s ahead: Argentina will train at Sporting KC’s Compass Minerals National Performance Center (Kansas City, KS); England will base at Swope Soccer Village (Kansas City, MO); the Netherlands will operate from the Kansas City Current Training Facility (Riverside, MO); and Algeria has announced it will base camp at Rock Chalk Park (Lawrence, KS).
What does that mean in practical terms? Teams, and the ecosystems that travel with them, will be living and training across our bi-state region for weeks. That brings international media attention, visitor spending, and new demand for everything from transportation and catering to signage, security, workforce support, and hospitality.
To help businesses get ready (and win new work), KC Game Plan is offering free February and March trainings focused on practical, immediately useful skills: AI essentials, digital marketing, cybersecurity, and lender readiness. Registration links are live now, and your help in sharing these opportunities with your networks is appreciated.
Finally, if you want to plug in directly, keep an eye on KC2026 updates for procurement opportunities (RFPs/RFIs) and vendor pathways as they open.
Let’s make sure Kansas City businesses are not just ready for the World Cup but positioned to thrive because of it.
