3rd Annual Resident Artist Exhibition

KANSAS CITY, MO — As Kansas City prepares to welcome visitors from around the world during an unprecedented cultural moment surrounding the FIFA World Cup, Zhou B Art Center KC invites the community to gather for Placemaking the 2026 Resident Artist Exhibition opening Friday, June 12, 2026.

On view June 12 – August 29, 2026, the exhibition brings together the resident artists of the Zhou B Art Center KC to explore the evolving and deeply personal idea of home.

For some, home is rooted in geography and ancestry. For others, it exists in relationships, ritual, memory or language. Placemaking is an exhibition that explores how we carry home within ourselves and how we choose to share it with others. In connection with the global convergence of the FIFA World Cup, the exhibition also acts as an invitation. As Kansas City steps into the international spotlight as a host city, the artists open their doors to offer visitors a glimpse into the creative spirit of the city they call home.

Participating artists were encouraged to present their strongest and most meaningful work while reflecting on themes surrounding belonging, culture, ancestry, hospitality, and identity. The result is an exhibition that reflects the diversity of experiences, perspectives, and artistic practices within the resident community at Zhou B Art Center KC.
