North Kansas City, MO (Apr. 15, 2026) — NKC Health earned Silver Milestone Recognition from the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) for maintaining the echocardiography accreditation for 25 years, demonstrating a long-term commitment to continuously improving patient outcomes and safety. Every three years, accredited facilities undergo a rigorous reaccreditation assessment, conducted by a panel of medical experts.

Echocardiography evaluates different areas of the heart and can detect heart disease and other serious cardiovascular conditions. IAC accreditation evaluates the many factors that ensure echocardiography produces an accurate diagnosis. The assessment covers every aspect that contributes to a positive patient outcome, including the sonographer’s performance, the equipment used and the required quality metrics.

Mayo Clinic researchers found that heart labs with IAC accreditation take more complete and accurate measurements for aortic valve problems. These labs produce clearer images and demonstrate greater adherence to clinical guidelines, helping doctors make more informed decisions about patient care.

NKC Health was one of 83 accredited facilities that qualified for the 25-Year Silver Accreditation Milestone in 2026. The IAC seal is the gold standard of accreditation in the field of echocardiography. Facilities that achieve IAC accreditation provide a more complete representation of high-level patient care.
