Members of KC Public Safety Coalition Release Statement Supporting Renewal of KCMO Public Safety Sales Tax
KC Chamber | Public Policy

Members of Kansas City Public Safety Coalition strongly support the renewal of Kansas City, Missouri’s Public Safety Sales Tax on the April 8, 2025 ballot.

A safe city is the foundation of a strong, vibrant community. Public safety is essential to protecting our neighborhoods, supporting local businesses, and fostering economic growth. It ensures that residents, workers, and visitors can enjoy all that Kansas City has to offer—without fear.

Without continued investment in public safety, our city’s progress is at risk. And this is not a new tax—it is a renewal of an existing, voter-approved initiative that has been instrumental in funding essential public safety improvements.

Kansas City is experiencing incredible momentum—from economic growth to increased national (and international) recognition. But our city’s success depends on safe streets, strong neighborhoods, and a secure environment for businesses and families alike. By renewing this tax, we are making a clear commitment to ensuring that Kansas City remains a place where people want to live, work, and invest.

A strong and diverse police force is vital to that mission. Law enforcement should reflect the faces and experiences of the community it serves, making it a great place for a rewarding and impactful career.

Members of the Kansas City Public Safety Coalition urge all voters to support the renewal of the Public Safety Sales Tax on April 8. Everyone deserves to be safe. Your vote is a vote for a safer, stronger Kansas City.
