KC Region’s Civic Organizations Support April Vote on Stadium Sales Tax

Representing the leadership of the regional business community, we are encouraged by recent and ongoing dialogue among the leadership of Jackson County, the Royals and Chiefs, the City of Kansas City, Missouri, and parties directly tied to keeping both teams based in Jackson County.

The residents of Jackson County created the initial sales tax via public vote allowing the teams and stadiums to thrive for decades while enhancing our national reputation in professional sports. We understand these negotiations, including the community benefits package, are highly complex, and trust that all involved will ensure that the 50-year legacy the Royals and Chiefs have created to generate a tremendous amount of positive economic impact for our community will continue.

United as regional business leaders, we strongly encourage this matter be placed in the hands of the Jackson County electorate in April.
