KANSAS CITY, Mo. – On Thursday, the Kansas City Chiefs announced that Phoenix Family has been named the next beneficiary of the Chiefs Charity Game, beginning in 2027.
As the NFL’s premier philanthropic game, the Chiefs Charity Game carries forward a legacy of generosity and community service first established by founder Lamar Hunt more than 40 years ago. The event continues to celebrate the organization’s commitment to supporting local charities and strengthening the Kansas City community.
“The Chiefs Charity Game is one of our most beloved traditions, and I am thrilled that the Hunt Family Foundation will be partnering with Phoenix Family as the game’s beneficiary for the next few years,” Chiefs Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt said. “Phoenix Family builds brighter and more stable futures for families across the Kansas City community, with programing to serve children, seniors, and family members of all ages. Founded in 1999, Phoenix Family is a Kansas City-based nonprofit organization dedicated to helping individuals and families exit poverty. For more than two decades, Phoenix Family has provided support for those living in affordable housing communities, by providing consistent on-site assistance designed to help families address immediate needs while building a stronger future.

Phoenix Family’s work is centered on three core programs: Families First, Senior Empowerment, and Help Instill the Key to Education (HIKE). Through its Families First program, Phoenix Family assists families facing financial and personal challenges that may jeopardize their housing and financial stability. In 2025, 89% of participating families received aid to ensure housing and financial stability through unforeseen challenges. Phoenix Family’s Senior Empowerment program assists older adults to ensure they remain safe, independent, and connected to their communities. In 2025, 94% of participants received assistance allowing them to remain in their homes and build independence. Phoenix Family’s HIKE program provides one-on-one reading support to children struggling with literacy. In 2025, 71% of participating students improved their reading proficiency by at least 12 months.
Today, Phoenix Family serves more than 5,700 people each day across the Kansas City metropolitan area. Through emergency assistance, supportive services, educational programs, and long-term case management, the organization helps individuals and families overcome immediate crises while building a path toward lasting stability. The 2027 season will mark the 43rd edition of the annual Chiefs Charity Game. Since its inception in 1985, the Chiefs Charity Game has raised more than $16 million, with nearly $8 million being raised in the last 15 years alone.
Jackson County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), the game’s most recent beneficiary (2024-26), just completed its third and final year as beneficiary and raised a total of $1.4 million through its three-year partnership to support its work and mission. Thanks to the funds and awareness raised through sponsorships, donations, ticket sales, suite purchases, and game-day fundraising efforts, Jackson County CASA is expanding its capacity to serve more children than ever before.
