Updates Prepare Union Station’s Historic Campus to Welcome Significant World Cup Audiences this Summer.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. March 23, 2026 – The transformational grant supports an important preservation and renovation project for Union Station’s Grand Plaza restrooms. As Kansas City prepares to welcome local, national and international guests from around the world this summer for the World Cup, Union Station is one big step closer.

“With our deepest appreciation, we recognize community partners and their continued belief in, and substantial support of Union Station, Kansas City’s iconic monument,” George Guastello, Union Station president and CEO, said. “With generosity, we were able to complete an important renovation and preservation of our restrooms located in Grand Plaza. This type of investment is hugely consequential, as it puts Kansas City’s Visual Voice™ – recognized around the world — in great shape as our community and region prepare for World Cup activities and other big events in the future.”

Grand Plaza’s picturesque charm is now completed with grand restrooms to maintain proper working functionality and capacity of visitors in preparation for hundreds of thousands of guests to gather for small and big events alike. Upgrades also include a bridal suite, beautifully furnished by Seville Home.

Union Station — a 501(c)3 non-profit organization – funds ongoing operations with earned income from our various attractions and operations as well as with the generous support of corporations, foundations and individual donors and members. This project received support from The Sunderland Foundation.
