WELCOMING & BELONGING SYMPOSIUM SERIES: BIG SONIA VIEWING WITH SPECIAL GUEST REGINA KORT TUESDAY, APRIL 7 | 12:00-2:30 P.M.

Join the Apex Welcoming and Belonging Committee for a viewing of Big Sonia, a documentary featuring the life of Sonia Warshawski, one of the last remaining Holocaust survivors, with special guest Regina Kort, Sonia’s daughter. Sonia Warshawski (91) is one of the last remaining Holocaust survivors in Kansas City and one of the only survivors there who speaks publicly about her wartime experience. BENARD POWELL NOMINATIONS

Since 1980, the Centurions Leadership Program has recognized Centurions alumni who demonstrate outstanding leadership, deep commitment to service, and clear passion for the improvement of the Greater Kansas City area with the Bernard Powell Award, named for the civil rights activist and former Centurion. The award recipient is selected by a committee of previous award recipients and will be recognized at the Annual Alumni Meeting (date TBD). All actives and alumni are encouraged to nominate deserving recipients of the Bernard Powell Award. Nominations are due Thursday, March 26! Bernard Powell Award Nominations Form >>

MARK YOUR CALENDARS!

Calling all first-years to attend the orientation Breakfast on Thursday, March 19 from 7:30 – 9:00 a.m. in the KC Chamber Board Room to recap everything you learned at one of our information sessions or networking socials. Meet with your fellow classmates and learn everything you need to know from second-year Steering Committee members and Chamber staff. Headshots will be taken, so come picture ready!

Join us for our Pinnacle 2026-2027 Kickoff Social on Wednesday, March 25, from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. at UMB Bank. This will be the first opportunity for the Classes of 2027 and 2028 to meet and connect. 

Retreat is April 8-10 at Lied Lodge in Nebraska City, NE. A more formal agenda with details to follow.

Join us for a special screening of Land of Opportunity: The Road of Resistance, Part I with filmmaker Nico Giles. Inspired by Richard Rothstein’s book The Color of Law, the documentary explores the development of Highway 71 in Kansas City and the urban renewal policies that displaced more than 10,000 families.

Following the film, Giles will share insights from the filmmaking process and lead a conversation about the lasting impact of these policies on our communities today. The evening will conclude with a casual happy hour and light bites. Register here >>
