VIRTUAL CENTURIONS INFORMATION SESSION

The Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce’s Centurions Leadership Program is a two-year program focused on building community awareness through civic opportunities and on community issues that affect Greater Kansas City. The mission is to prepare a representative cross-section of the community’s emerging leaders for their role in shaping the future of Greater Kansas City. Interested professionals around the Greater Kansas City region can attend our virtual information session to learn more about the program. Register here >>

ISSUES UP CLOSE: GROWING LYKINS

Named after the first elected mayor of Kansas City, the Lykins neighborhood is working to address blight, safety, and quality of life through targeted redevelopment. A diverse community, residents have become their own “Master Developers,” working with rehabbers and development groups to improve and build homes that support a mixed-income community. Featured speakers include Brandon Mason and Gregg Lombardi of Neighborhood Legal Services, who will talk about they work they do with the community to redevelop while avoiding displacement. Join the Apex Welcoming and Belonging Committee for a viewing of Big Sonia, a documentary featuring the life of Sonia Warshawski, one of the last remaining Holocaust survivors, with special guest Regina Kort, Sonia’s daughter. Sonia Warshawski (91) is one of the last remaining Holocaust survivors in Kansas City and one of the only survivors there who speaks publicly about her wartime experience. Her story must never be forgotten. Register here >>
