MERRIAM, Kan., The AdventHealth Kansas City Foundation hosted a heartfelt dedication ceremony for SHiNE, a newly installed sculpture in the Olivia Bloomfield Foundation Welcome Garden at B.E. Smith Family Center, home of the Britain Development program.

The sculpture, funded by the Olivia Bloomfield Foundation and Logan Baker Foundation in partnership with the AdventHealth Kansas City Foundation, depicts 46 stars in remembrance of children who received services at Britain Development who passed away far too young.

The event, held on the evening of September 17, brought together donors, team members, community members and 30 families who represent 33 out of the 46 stars, including some families who have experienced multiple losses, to celebrate the unveiling of the sculpture and the enduring legacy of the children it commemorates.

“This amazing facility, specialized equipment, and the therapies offered at Britain Development are fueled by the generosity of passionate donors and events like Tinsel & Tidings,” said Nathan Marticke, Associate Executive Director of the AdventHealth Kansas City Foundation. “We are especially grateful to the families of Olivia Bloomfield and Logan Baker whose foundations helped bring SHiNE to life.”

The sculpture was commissioned through the collaborative efforts of the Olivia Bloomfield Foundation and the Logan Baker Foundation, both established by families who experienced profound loss and chose to transform their grief into hope.

The piece was created by local artist Amie Jacobson, and stands as a symbol of remembrance, resilience and love.

“This project reflects our ongoing dedication to creating a beautiful, welcoming and inclusive space for families and community members of all abilities,” said Amy Milroy, Director of the B.E. Smith Family Center. “This sculpture now stands as a permanent tribute to the children whose lives touched so many, and as a beacon of hope for families continuing their journey at the B.E. Smith Family Center.”

Following remarks from Logan Baker’s mother, Tracie, and Olivia Bloomfield’s mother, Sara, guests participated in a candlelit procession to the sculpture site, where Chaplain Elizabeth Marin from AdventHealth’s Spiritual Wellness team led a prayer and reflection.

The ceremony concluded with a reading of Philippians 2:15: “You will shine among them like stars in the sky,” as they gathered to watch the sculpture illuminate at night for the first time—a reminder that each of these children will SHiNE forever.

In 2024, the AdventHealth Kansas City Foundation announced that the Tiny Tim Holiday Fantasy, which has benefited children and families served in the B.E. Smith Family Center for 42 years, will now be named and branded as Tinsel & Tidings from AdventHealth. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit tinselandtidings.org.

About the Logan Baker Foundation

The Logan Baker Foundation was established in 2013 in honor of our son, Logan. Logan’s life was cut short at only 17 months from the effects of Congenital Muscular Dystrophy but that was only the beginning of his beautiful legacy. The strength and courage he demonstrated will never be forgotten. “Logi Bear’s” calm and peaceful demeanor, as well as his infectious smile and beautiful eyes lifted the spirits of those around him. His happiness and love of life, even through difficult circumstances, provided an inspiration that will carry on through the work of the Logan Baker Foundation.
