2026 midterm election | 139th Annual Dinner | The State of Transit and more...

FROM THE KC CHAMBER’S PRESIDENT AND CEO

On Tuesday, November 3, voters across our region will head to the polls to make decisions that will help shape the future of our communities. Elections are an opportunity to make our voices heard, and I encourage every eligible voter to take the time to participate.

At the KC Chamber, we believe a strong region depends on people who are engaged in the decisions affecting our businesses, neighborhoods and communities. That means learning about the candidates and issues on your ballot, considering how those choices may affect the future of our region and, most importantly, showing up to vote.

As part of that work, KC BizPAC, the political action committee of the KC Chamber in partnership with the Civic Council of Greater Kansas City, has announced its endorsements for the 2026 midterm election. KC BizPAC is not affiliated with any political party and evaluates candidates based on issues important to the region’s business community and economic well-being. You can review the full list of KC BizPAC endorsements before heading to the polls.

The KC Chamber Board of Directors has also endorsed the renewal of Jackson County’s COMBAT sales tax. COMBAT has supported crime and drug prevention efforts in Jackson County for decades, and Question 1 on Tuesday’s ballot asks voters whether to renew the quarter-cent sales tax for another 10 years.

Regardless of where you live in our region or the choices you make on your ballot, your participation matters. Voting is one of the most direct ways we can take part in shaping the communities we call home. Make a plan, know what’s on your ballot and add your voice to the conversation on Tuesday. Greater Kansas City’s future belongs to all of us. Let’s show up for it.

THE STATE OF TRANSIT

The 2026 FIFA World Cup™ demonstrated what Greater Kansas City can accomplish through regional collaboration and innovative transportation solutions. Now, how do we turn that momentum into lasting progress? Join us for The State of Series: Transit on Tuesday, November 10, from 8:30 to 10 a.m., as business and civic leaders explore the future of regional mobility and its impact on economic growth, workforce access and community connectivity.

Hear from Jeremy Martin, President and CEO of the Austin Chamber of Commerce, about lessons learned from Austin’s collaborative approach to long-term transportation planning, along with insights from Lara Dailey, Midwest Policy Manager for Waymo. A panel of regional transit leaders, moderated by Julie Lorenz of 1898 & Co., will discuss opportunities to strengthen Kansas City’s transportation network and build on the successes of the World Cup.

In-person registration is sold out, but virtual participation is still available. Be part of the conversation about what comes next for a more connected Greater Kansas City. Register today!

TURN RESEARCH INTO ACTION FOR WORKPLACE WELLNESS

Balancing work and personal life isn’t always easy, and the challenges employees face can affect their well-being, job satisfaction and productivity. But what can employers do to make a difference? The KC Chamber’s Healthy KC initiative, in partnership with UMKC’s Henry W. Bloch School of Management, has been exploring that question through new research into the work-life experiences of employees across Greater Kansas City. Join us Thursday, November 12, from 8:30 to 10 a.m. for “From Research to Action: A Healthy KC Program on Work-Life Wellness”, presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City. This free, in-person program will highlight new research on how workplace culture, supervisor support and organizational policies affect employee well-being, satisfaction and retention. Attendees will gain practical strategies for creating healthier, more supportive workplaces and turning research into meaningful action. The program takes place at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City (1400 Baltimore Ave., KCMO). Join us to explore how healthier workplaces build stronger businesses and a stronger Kansas City. Registration is free, so register today!
