North Kansas City, MO. (Aug. 28, 2026) — NKC Health is once again among Missouri’s best employers, earning a spot on Forbes’ 2026 Best Employers by State list for Missouri. This marks the sixth time the health system has been recognized on the prestigious list.

NKC Health also made the Forbes Best Employers for Women list for the third year in a row – one of just 50 healthcare systems recognized nationwide. This recognition is especially meaningful in healthcare, where women represent nearly 80% of the workforce. Recognized for leadership opportunities, pay equity and workplace inclusion, NKC Health is the only Kansas City-area healthcare provider and one of just two hospitals in Missouri and Kansas to earn the distinction.

“What makes this recognition meaningful is that it reflects the way our team supports one another every day,” said Christina Robertson, JD, MBA, vice president of Human Resources at NKC Health. “We’re proud of what we’ve built together and even more excited about what we’ll continue to do as we help each other succeed.”

The Forbes awards reflect the health system’s commitment to creating a supportive and inclusive workplace that helps employees thrive at every stage, both personally and professionally. From childcare services to private rooms for breastfeeding, the health system prioritizes inclusivity and work-life balance. NKC Health also offers a professional advancement program to help employees continue their education and build rewarding careers.

To develop the Best Employers by State list, Forbes worked with the market research firm Statista, which surveyed 245,000 employees across all 50 states and Washington, D.C. Respondents were asked to rank how likely they were to recommend their current or past employers and companies they’ve heard of through connections.

Forbes also worked alongside Statista to survey over 146,000 women employed at companies with at least 1,000 employees to build the Best Employers for Women list. Rankings were also based on how likely they’d recommend their current or past employer, parental leave policies, work-life balance, childcare and eldercare benefits, and the organization’s response to incidents of sexual misconduct and discrimination.
