Sometimes a region has the chance to see itself differently and show others what is possible. For Greater Kansas City, 2026 has been one of those moments. This year, we welcomed people from across the globe to a region defined by our culture and creativity, entrepreneurial spirit, strong business community and, most importantly, our ability to work together across city, county and state lines.
While there was plenty of excitement on the pitch during FIFA World Cup 26™ match days, important connections were also taking shape in conference rooms and boardrooms across our region. Visiting delegations connected with local businesses, experienced the cultural diversity of our community, and explored relationships with the potential to extend well beyond 2026. Those conversations reinforced what we’ve long known: Greater Kansas City has something meaningful to offer the world.
Now, we have an opportunity, and a responsibility, to turn that attention into lasting momentum.
On Tuesday, November 24, I hope you’ll join us for the KC Chamber’s 139th Annual Dinner: World Class KC, presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City, at the Kansas City Convention Center’s Kay Barnes Grand Ballroom (301 W 13th Street, KCMO).
Annual Dinner gives us a chance to celebrate the people, businesses and partnerships moving our region forward while looking ahead. The relationships we strengthened and visibility we gained can lead to new investment, talent, and business opportunities.
We’ll hear from outgoing Board Chair Jeff Simon of Husch Blackwell and incoming Board Chair Dr. Kimberly Beatty, Chancellor and CEO of Metropolitan Community College, before the surprise announcement of the Kansas Citian of the Year.

BUILDING THE FUTURE: HIGHER EDUCATION, INNOVATION, AND TALENT
As Greater Kansas City builds on the momentum of hosting the world in 2026, the region has a unique opportunity to strengthen its reputation as a destination for talent, research, entrepreneurship, and innovation. Join the KC Chamber on Wednesday, September 9, from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m., for Building the Future: Higher Education, Innovation, and Talent in Greater Kansas City, hosted by Rockhurst University in Arrupe Hall (5351 Forest Ave., KCMO).
The forum will bring together higher education, business, civic, and community leaders to explore how colleges and universities can help drive workforce development, support cutting-edge research, and prepare students for the evolving demands of today’s economy. Attendees will also learn how growing collaboration among institutions is helping advance shared regional priorities and strengthen Greater Kansas City’s long-term competitiveness. CENTURIONS INFORMATION SESSIONS AND NETWORKING SOCIAL
If you’re ready to expand your leadership skills, build meaningful connections and deepen your understanding of the issues shaping our region, the Centurions Leadership Program may be your next step. Centurions is a two-year leadership development program designed to prepare a representative cross-section of Greater Kansas City’s emerging leaders to help shape the region’s future. Through civic engagement, community service and firsthand exploration of regional issues, participants gain a broader understanding of Greater Kansas City while building relationships with other leaders committed to making a difference.
This September, interested professionals have two opportunities to explore Centurions, meet people connected to the program and determine whether it’s the right fit for their leadership journey. First, a Centurions Information Session will be held Tuesday, September 15, from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. at Equal Minded Café & Event Center (4327 Troost Ave., KCMO). Register now! Then, for those who prefer a more social setting, a Centurions Information Session & Networking Social will take place on Wednesday, September 16, from 3:30–5:30 p.m. at EnterpriseKC (11150 Overbrook Rd., Ste. 250, Leawood). 2026 ATHENA AWARDS RECEPTION

This year, we’re proud to honor Angie Long, Chief Investment Officer and Principal Owner of Palmer Square Capital Management, as the 2026 ATHENA Leadership Award recipient, and Elaina Paige Thomas, founder of The Next Paige Talent Agency and Next Paige Foundation, as the 2026 ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award recipient.

JOINT LEGISLATIVE AGENDA LUNCHEON
Public policy plays a vital role in creating a strong business climate and a thriving regional economy. The annual Missouri State Affairs/Kansas State Affairs Joint Legislative Agenda Luncheon brings together business leaders and members of the KC Chamber’s state affairs committees to identify and discuss the policy priorities that will guide our advocacy efforts during the 2027 legislative sessions in both Jefferson City and Topeka.
Whether you’re a longtime advocate or interested in becoming more engaged in the legislative process, this luncheon offers an opportunity to help shape the Chamber’s public policy agenda while connecting with fellow business and civic leaders from across the region.
