FROM THE KC CHAMBER’S PRESIDENT AND CEO

One of the highlights of the year for the KC Chamber is celebrating the individuals and organizations who embody the very best of leadership, service, and mentorship. That’s why I’m thrilled to invite you to join us for the 2025 ATHENA Awards Reception on Tuesday, September 30, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Grand Hall at Union Station.

The ATHENA Awards are a global tradition, honoring more than 8,200 leaders across the world since their inception. Locally, the Chamber has proudly presented these awards since 2001, recognizing those who exemplify the spirit of ATHENA—the Greek goddess known for strength, wisdom, and enlightenment. Each year, the celebration shines a light on those who “lift as they climb,” creating opportunities for others and strengthening our community in the process.

I’m proud to announce the 2025 ATHENA Award honorees:

  • Christine Kemper, Founder of Kansas City Girls Preparatory Academy, will receive the ATHENA Leadership Award for her exceptional professional excellence, dedication to advancing women, and service to the community.
  • DePrice Taylor, Executive Director of Community Relations for the KC Current, will receive the ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award, honoring her early-career achievements and her commitment to building pathways for women in sports and business.

These honorees are living proof that Greater Kansas City’s future is bright, bold, and inclusive. Their impact extends well beyond their individual achievements; it’s about the doors they open, the voices they amplify, and the opportunities they create for the next generation of leaders.

I hope you’ll join me in celebrating Christine and DePrice at this inspiring evening of recognition and connection. A special thank you to KPMG for its generous support as our Women’s Leadership Presenting Sponsor. Learn more and register now.
