The Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the 2025 Small Business of the Year is Resolve Counseling & Wellness! Owner and licensed therapist Amber Reed accepted the award June 17 at the Small Business Celebration Awards Luncheon at the Sheraton Kansas City Hotel at Crown Center.
This is the third year that Resolve has been named a Top 10 Small Business. Founded in 2018, Resolve Counseling & Wellness is a woman-owned mental health practice that’s grown into a multidisciplinary team offering trauma-informed therapy and wellness services to individuals, couples, and families throughout the Kansas City metro. Resolve’s mission centers on helping people heal and grow while also creating a workplace where mental health professionals can thrive and bring their best to their clients.
Under Reed’s leadership, Resolve has expanded into multiple locations and significantly increased access to care by offering in-person and virtual services, a broad range of specialties, and a dedicated training program to support the next generation of clinicians. The practice is deeply committed to creating cultures of belonging—both in client care and internally—cultivating a team that reflects the communities they serve and intentionally partnering with underrepresented professionals in mental health.
“We’re so honored by this recognition,” said Reed. “Our goal has always been to create a safe, inclusive space for clients and for our team. This award is a reflection of our entire staff’s compassion, dedication, and belief in the power of healing.”
The KC Chamber also presented five specialty awards at the luncheon. Those winners include:
- Emerging Small Business of the Year: Vine Street Brewing
- Legacy of Kansas City Award: Taliaferro & Browne
- Weida Award for International Small Business of the Year: Bestway International
- Small Business Equity Award: Café Corazón
- Luminary Arts & Creative Small Business Award: Complex Flavors Home + Life
The KC Chamber Small Business Celebration has been a business community mainstay for nearly 40 years and is recognized as one of the largest Chamber small business celebrations in the United States. The Small Business of the Year receives the coveted Mr. K Award, named for entrepreneur and philanthropist Ewing Kauffman. Winners are selected for their business growth or sustainability, strong employee relations, community involvement, and commitment to creating welcoming cultures of belonging for all.
