City Gym's Reopening Plan

MEMBERS MUST REVIEW OUR HOURS AND PROCEDURES PRIOR TO VISITING CITY GYM. IN PHASE 1, THE GYM CAN ONLY BE ACCESSED BY MINDBODY ONLINE RESERVATION. NO WALK-INS OR GUESTS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

City Gym is scheduled to re-open Monday, May 25, 2020 in accordance with KCMO guidelines and restrictions using a four phase process. We will begin with Phase I -- the strictest of all the phases. (For specific details reference the Phase I Guide.)

We will move to next phases with less restrictions and more offerings based off infection and hospitalization rates not arbitrary dates. All communication about any changes will be shared with members by email, social media, and posted signage in the gym.

Since the beginning of the COVID 19 crisis, we have been working closely with medical experts and epidemiologists to ensure the best, most cautious, and responsible ways to run our business. With their guidance, along with recommendations by the KCMO Health Department and the CDC, we have developed a plan we feel keeps our City Gym and Kansas City communities safest.

As an organization we are deeply committed to serving the health and well-being of KC, that is why we feel so strongly that we must do all we can to be vigilant in stopping the spread of this virus. As a small, business owner, I feel an enormous sense of responsibility to get this right for both the health of our community and the success of our business.

Despite our attention to detail, nothing we do is a fail-safe. All of us are entering the facility at our own risk. We will continue to do everything we can to be as safe as possible, but we cannot do this alone. The recommendations we provide ultimately come down to personal responsibility. You must assess the risk, take great care through good hygiene and mask wearing, and then engage in those activities that feel safe to you. If entering the facility at this time does not feel safe, we understand that and hope our virtual classes and outdoor offering might be a better fit.

We recognize that these new procedures and protocols are different than anything we’ve ever experienced as a wellness community. Please bring your patience and flexibility with you to the gym as we work to make these new safety procedures as seamless as possible.

I’ve said this before, but it bears repeating -- we are in this together. We never would have had the ability to re-open our doors without the support of members who were able to continue their memberships. Once we have the ability to we plan to have a big re-opening/anniversary celebration to show our thanks. Until then, please accept my most sincere gratitude.

This August we will celebrate nine years of business. Without a doubt, this is the toughest test we’ve had to weather, but each and every time it would have been easier to just throw in the towel, we didn’t because of each of you. We wake up every day committed to doing the very best by our community. We hope you feel that as we continue to navigate this unprecedented time.

No indoor group fitness classes will occur inside the facility during Phase I. On June 1st, we will launch daily online classes available to members only, through our Mindbody membership system. Additionally, we will soon release details on an outdoor bootcamp, we will host outside this summer. Social distancing will be enforced during bootcamp and will require that members bring their own towel/mat and workout band to the workout to ensure no sharing of equipment. Bands will be sold at City Gym. More details to come on both of these offerings.

Social Distancing/Masking

We will be practicing social distancing of at least six feet in the facility by closing down certain equipment, monitoring member movements, discouraging loitering, and using directional signage and tape. Please be considerate as you're using the facility to maintain safe distances with other people. We strongly encourage members to wear masks while in the facility.

CLEANING & SAFETY

As an organization we are deeply committed to serving the health and well-being of KC, that is why we feel so strongly that we must do all we can to be vigilant in stopping the spread of COVID 19. Despite our attention to detail, nothing we do is a fail-safe. All of us are entering the facility at our own risk. We will continue to do everything we can to be as safe and sanitary as possible, but we cannot do this alone. We must all be diligent in our hand hygiene, cleaning of equipment and adherence to social distancing requirements.

Entrance Procedure

Members will be socially distanced at the front entrance and around the south side of the building. A staff person will be administering forehead temperature checks and seeking verbal confirmation that members are free of COVID 19 symptoms. Should there be inclement weather (rain/lightening), members will enter through the rear exit and line up on designated spots on turf.

Cleaning

We have cleaned every single surface within City Gym, including walls and every piece of equipment during our closure. We have also utilized special electrostatic cleaning that is effective is 99.9% effective at killing the COVID virus, and will continue to do this weekly for the foreseeable future.

Our staff will adhere to a strict cleaning schedule during business hours. Additionally, we will close from 12:15pm-3:00pm on weekdays to deep clean, followed by early closure each evening for sanitization prior to our overnight janitorial crew arrives.

Cleaning stations will be available for members to sanitize their equipment prior to and after use. We strongly encourage members do both to minimize exposure to all germs, but especially the easily transmittable COVID 19.

Safety

All staff will be wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times. At the recommendation of the KCMO Health Department and the CDC we strongly encourage members to wear masks while inside the facility. We understand that wearing masks while engaging in rigorous cardiovascular exercise could be uncomfortable, and that is why we encourage members to make use of the good weather and do cardio exercise outside when possible.

In accordance with CDC guidelines regarding travel, we are asking members to consider not coming to the gym if they have traveled outside of the KC Metro in the last 14 days.

We ask that members take great care to socially distance at least 6 feet apart and not loiter.
