CENTURIONS HOMECOMING

We’ve loved our annual Legacy Golf Tournament, but it’s time to do something where all actives, alumni, and guests can come together as one big Centurions family. Centurions Homecoming is your chance to celebrate the impact your class makes on Kansas City and to tap into this big, beautiful network of resources (read: incredible humans) we’ve got at our fingertips. Don’t miss out on attending this inaugural event, which will take place on the evening of Thursday, September 5 at the Mulberry Room in the West Bottoms. This event is hosted by the Centurions Alumni Board. Plus-ones are welcome, so get those babysitters lined up now! Register here >>

REMINDER: SIGN UP TO ACCESS SERVICE PROJECTS ON VOLUNTEERMARK

All volunteer opportunities are now open to both classes and are on a first-come, first-served basis. We have moved to one calendar on VolunteerMark that everyone will use to sign up for opportunities. This was the overwhelming feedback that volunteer opportunities are a great way to have both classes connect. This also means that opportunities are open “year-round” for everyone, which we will track by program year (Fall: July 1-June 30 and Spring: Feb 1-Jan 31).

Ready to serve? Check out VolunteerMark for a few opportunities that are still in need of volunteers. Check the calendar regularly as new projects are added weekly and look for newsletter announcements or GroupMe to sign-up for projects in which spots still need to be filled.

Please join us on August 7 to be a part of history, for the official ribbon cutting ceremony of your legacy project. You've all poured your blood, sweat, tears, and more sweat into the beautiful Therapeutic Garden and hoop house for KVC Niles, home for children. We'll have executives from KVC, staff from Niles, some local KC VIPs, and of course all of you. This will be a celebration of all of your hard work, and the great work Niles does for the kids. Join us for the ribbon cutting if you can, and the happy hour at Corrigan Station afterwards for sure! IUC: VIOLENT CRIME IN KANSAS CITY: COMMUNITY AND VICTIM PERSPECTIVES

In recent years, federal statistics revealed that Kansas City has the fifth-highest murder rate in the country. Too often, the perspectives of victims and community, grassroots organizers go unheard throughout the Kansas City metro when addressing crime and public safety. This Issues up Close builds on themes and discussions from the July Task Force, and invites Centurions to visit with community leaders, volunteers, and professionals working to heal communities and improve the lives of victims affected by violent crime. Centurions will have the opportunity to consider these perspectives and how Centurions can participate in ending violent crime in Kansas City. Register here >>
