FROM THE KC CHAMBER'S PRESIDENT AND CEO

Tomorrow is election day and there’s an important measure on the ballot for KCMO.

Voters are being asked to renew the 3/8ths cent sales tax that generates about 30 percent of the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority budget. The tax helps pay for bus service in KCMO, serving more than one million bus trips each month.

This is not a new tax increase; instead it’s a 10-year renewal of the existing sales tax which is set to expire in 2024. The tax was last renewed by voters in 2008.

You may not ride the bus, but RideKC service is essential for so many (remember, a million trips A MONTH) transporting essential workers to and from their jobs, and serving people without cars who need the bus to get to doctor’s appointments, the grocery store, etc.

That’s why the KC Chamber Board of Directors voted unanimously to endorse this proposal.

We urge you to vote “YES” tomorrow and keep the buses rolling!
