Stinson Leonard Street Elects Four New Partners in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (January 8, 2019)—Stinson Leonard Street LLP proudly announces the election of four new partners in the firm's Kansas City office, effective Jan. 1, 2019. These four are joined by six other newly elected partners spread among four of the firm's 14 locations.

The new partners are:

Patrick Calland frequently represents commercial mortgage loan servicers in matters involving private and public structured finance transactions and the issuance of commercial and multifamily mortgage-backed securities. He also has experience representing commercial loan servicers in matters related to master repurchase facilities and servicing agreements, transfers of special servicing and acquisitions of servicing rights. 

Calland is an active member of the Commercial Real Estate Finance Council and has spoken on topics related to real estate and market issues at the Midwest Servicer Forum. He earned his J.D. at the University of Notre Dame.

Nick Hoffman advises both public and private companies regarding mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, capital markets, securities laws and corporate governance matters. He has significant experience in the agribusiness, technology and energy industries. In addition to his practice, Hoffman is a frequent presenter on securities laws and mergers and acquisitions updates to clients and industry groups. In addition, he is a member of the American Bar Association's Mergers and Acquisitions Committee and the Market Trends Subcommittee as well was a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors. 

Prior to joining the firm, Hoffman interned at Cerner Corporation (NASDAQ). He earned his J.D., summa cum laude, from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

Judd Treeman is an economic development, real estate and public finance attorney. He frequently represents developers, lenders and government clients in complex commercial economic development projects across the country. Treeman's projects usually involve complex financing related to tax incentives, abatements and exemptions, including tax increment financing, community improvement districts, transportation development districts, employment incentives, Section 1031 exchanges and Opportunity Zone investments, and private activity, industrial and economic development revenue bonds. 

Treeman has been recognized by Missouri and Kansas Super Lawyers® as a Rising Star from 2015-2017, and as a Rising Star by KC Magazine. Before focusing his practice on corporate transactions, Treeman was a litigator in markets across the country, working on multimillion dollar construction and commercial lease disputes. He earned his J.D. from Emory University School of Law. 

Nate Van Emon counsels financial institutions on a variety of transactional matters, including bank mergers and acquisitions, bank branch sales and the regulatory issues associated with these transactions. He serves as the leader of the firm's bank mergers and acquisitions practice group, which is consistently ranked among the top legal advisors in the U.S. for bank mergers and acquisitions and bank branch sales, according to SNL Financial Partners. In addition to his mergers and acquisitions practice, Van Emon has significant experience as counsel to banks and borrowers in a variety of financing transactions.  

Van Emon also serves on the firm's Associate Development and Mentoring Committee, where he works with attorneys that are newer to the firm on strategies for success. Prior to joining the firm, he interned for the Honorable Scott O. Wright of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri. Van Emon earned his J.D., summa cum laude, from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
