KANSAS CITY, MO (March 25, 2021) – The Royals, in partnership with Price Chopper, today announced the first annual “Paint It Blue” campaign. This new initiative will unite, excite and inspire the Kansas City community ahead of Opening Day on Thursday, April 1.

“This will be a special season, so we knew now was the perfect time to introduce this campaign,” said Sr. Director, Community Investments & Executive Director of Royals Charities, Amanda Grosdidier. “We are excited to welcome fans back to Kauffman Stadium, but we want fans all over the metro to celebrate Opening Day, too. That’s why I am thrilled about ‘Paint It Blue’ and what it will mean for our city.”

“Paint It Blue” will become an annual tradition for Kansas Citians to kick off a new season—whether they’re at the ballpark, the office, school, or home. Starting today, the Royals and Price Chopper will encourage local businesses, schools, and entertainment districts to “Paint It Blue.” This includes lighting fountains, towers, or buildings blue; encouraging students and employees to wear Royals attire; or decorating offices and neighborhoods with Royals-themed decorations. Additionally, Price Chopper will turn its stores blue on Opening Day and offer “at-home tailgate” specials so fans can stock up for Opening Weekend.

“You don’t have to be in the stands at the ballpark to celebrate Opening Day with us,” Grosdidier said. “As Royals fans, we stand together, share our passion for the team together, and cheer together. Being a Royals fan is about connecting through our team, no matter where you are.”

Check out the Royals on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram beginning today to learn more about ways to participate or use #PaintKCBlue to submit your own “Paint It Blue” photos. To purchase tickets to Opening Day, visit Royals.com or call the Royals Ticket Office at 1-800-6ROYALS/1-800-676-9257.
