iSTEAMkc Symposium
A special Symposium Event focused on Steam and Stem Workforce Development will be presented by the Gem Cultural and Educational Center in partnership with William Jewell College and the Kansas City Chamber from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at the Gem Theater, 1615 E. 18th Street.
The Gem organization will also announce its new brand and mission focused on combining the arts, media technology and workforce development into a new initiative called “iSTEAMkc” along with its plans for a new headquarters to be located in a renovated Wendell Phillips School near the 18th & Vine Historic Jazz District.
The event also marks the 25th Anniversary of the Opening of the renovated Gem Theater, a project spearheaded by Pat Jordan, the President of the Gem not-for-profit arts organization.
The main objectives of the Symposium are to:
- feature Kansas City-based organizations and companies who are dedicated to participating in workforce development for media arts and technology
- inform and educate students, professionals and companies about the opportunities and benefits in participating in the program
- sign up companies to participate in the iSTEAMkc program and key STEM initiatives
