AdventHealth Shawnee Mission awarded Comprehensive Cardiac Center Certification from The Joint Commission

Merriam, Kan. – AdventHealth Shawnee Mission has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® and the American Heart Association’s Heart-Check mark for Comprehensive Cardiac Center Certification. AdventHealth Shawnee Mission is one of 20 organizations across the nation to meet these rigorous standards by the Joint Commission, which is a top national certifying body that accredits health care organizations meeting specific quality and safety standards.

AdventHealth Shawnee Mission underwent a comprehensive, onsite review on July 28. During the visit, a team of Joint Commission surveyors performed a comprehensive review of 7 clinical areas inclusive of heart failure, cardiac rehab, diagnostic catheterization, percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), electrophysiology, open heart surgery, valve, and acute myocardial infarction (AMI) populations. Joint Commission standards are developed in collaboration with professional health care experts and physician specialists, measurement experts and patients. The reviewers also conducted onsite observations and interviews with staff, physicians, leadership and patients.
