Kansas City, Mo.—Organizers of Kansas City Restaurant Week announced today the dates and featured charity for its 12th annual event celebrating the metro’s diverse culinary scene. Presented by Sysco, KC Restaurant Week is slated to return Jan. 8-17, 2021, with special multi-course meals and values at hundreds of local restaurants. From carryout and delivery services to traditional dine-in experiences, KC Restaurant Week will showcase the region’s culinary talents through three affordable price tiers: $15, $35 and $45.

A portion of proceeds for every meal sold will benefit three local charities—returning beneficiary The Don Bosco Centers and the foundations of Visit KC and the Greater Kansas City Restaurant Association (GKCRA).

Presenting sponsor Sysco is the global leader in selling, marketing and distributing food products to customers who prepare meals away from home. The company serves more than 625,000 restaurant, healthcare, hospitality and other customer locations.

“It is our distinct pleasure to serve as presenting sponsor for the region’s premier dining event for a fourth consecutive year,” said Sysco Central Plains Region President Harry Cotros. “We look forward to Kansas City Restaurant Week each year with great anticipation and value all that it represents—dining out while doing good. On behalf of Sysco and my Kansas City colleagues, I encourage our neighbors to lend their support to the many restaurants and small businesses in their lives—both now and during this incredible January event.”

To further encourage participation by area restaurants, the GKCRA Education Foundation and the Visit KC Foundation have teamed up to provide complimentary registration to metro-area restaurants.

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, a local mask ordinance is in effect through at least Jan. 16. Using KCRestaurantWeek.com, diners will soon have the option to research and filter menus based on their preferred method of service—including carryout, delivery or dine-in.

“Although dining out may look different these days, one thing that has not wavered is our event’s commitment to highlighting our region’s diverse restaurant scene,” said Visit KC President & CEO Jason Fulvi. “Restaurant Week gives Kansas City the opportunity to showcase our local restaurant industry at a time when it’s needed most. These businesses—many of them small or family owned—are the lifeblood of our neighborhoods, frequently giving back to their communities. Now, it’s our turn to step to the plate and support them.”

Visit KC and its Foundation partnered with the GKCRA in 2010 to create Kansas City Restaurant Week. Over the course of its first 11 years, more than $2.7 million has been raised by restaurants and diners for local causes.

“The Don Bosco Centers have been a staple of our community since 1940, and it’s with great honor that we select them as our featured beneficiary for the second year in a row,” said GKCRA Executive Director Bill Teel. “From championing our region’s elderly and immigrant communities to executing one of the largest Meals on Wheels programs in existence, Don Bosco’s need is now greater than ever. In addition to enjoying great meals at a great value, diners can rest assured they will also be supporting a worthy local cause this winter.”

A full of list of participating restaurants will be announced at a later date. Stay tuned to KCRestaurantWeek.com for menus, reservations and other details leading up to the event.
