ANNUAL ALUMNI LUNCHEON

Join the Centurions Alumni Association on Wednesday, June 19 for our annual luncheon and meeting where we kick off the new membership year together and learn from a local leader. Enjoy a fantastic lunch at Grand Street Café and of course great networking with alumni. The graduating class of 2019 is also encouraged to attend.

FALL

IT’S NOT TOO LATE! INVITE YOUR EXECUTIVES TO THE EXECUTIVE BREAKFAST

In 2016, we started hosting a breakfast for our graduating Centurions and their executives. At this breakfast, 2nd year Steering members will present your accomplishments over the last two years (Legacy project, task force topics, leaders you’ve heard from, etc.). We received really great feedback, so we are continuing the tradition again this year on May 22 in the KC Chamber Boardroom (Union Station, first floor).

Next steps: We would like to mail formal invitations to your CEO, Supervisor, and/or a Board member within the next few weeks, but we need your help! We understand that your leadership may have changed since you started the program, and we want to make sure we are sending invitations to the right people. If you’d like to invite your supervisor and/or your executive to this celebratory breakfast, send their business mailing address and email to Danielle Isbell.

  • Once invitations are mailed, executives and supervisors can RSVP by emailing Danielle Isbell
  • You can also register yourself and your guest on their behalf via the online calendar.

Even if you cannot attend, we still encourage you to invite your executives. This is their opportunity to see all the hard work you have put into the program over the last two years. Your executive will be confident their investment in the program will return a more engaged, educated, thoughtful, and connected leader. If your executives cannot attend, but you can, that’s great too!

OPERATION BREAKTHROUGH: THE CITY YOU NEVER SEE

Join us on Tuesday, June 4 at 4 p.m. at Operation Breakthrough to learn about the harsh realities of the lives of the families that Operation Breakthrough serves.

Operation Breakthrough is one of the largest single-site daycare centers in the state of Missouri, caring for over 600 children each day. 85 percent of these children come from families living below the poverty level. Established in 1971 the goal was to “break through” poverty. Sadly, the need today is even greater than before. One way to increase awareness about the hardships faced by the children at Operation Breakthrough is to offer bus tours of the neighborhoods where they live. Dubbed, “The City You Never See,” this tour will show you places, just minutes from the Country Club Plaza, where families struggle for basic necessities. Along the way, you’ll meet courageous and resilient parents and community leaders who will share their personal experiences with you.

Each tour begins and ends at Operation Breakthrough and includes five to six stops at various points in the surrounding neighborhoods. The program lasts for about an hour and a half. Participants will ride a yellow school bus that can accommodate up to 42 adults.

Please know that the bus tour includes explicit testimony on such topics as domestic violence, substance abuse, and prostitution. Register here>>
