Action Requested: Missouri Legislation to Fund Training to Address Workforce Needs

The Missouri House of Representatives is considering legislation on a critical upskill credentialing program and they need to hear from Kansas City area employers who support this grant program to help address the workforce needs. Please email your Missouri House member today and request their support of HB 417. With over 84,000 job vacancies in the Kansas City area in the last 12 months, the KC Chamber has made workforce development policies a top priority and is advocating for HB 417, which would create a short-term credentialing program by awarding grants to employers that encourage their existing workforce to obtain upskill credentials. With this program, employers will have a critical tool available to provide upskill training for their existing workers, helping them both retain workers and build a talent pool from within their workforce. This bill will show that Missouri is “open for business,” encouraging current companies to retain, develop, and grow their workforce while enticing other companies to relocate to the state. Please send a quick and short email to your Representative saying you and your company support HB 417 and urging their support today!
