Building KC's Innovative Transportation Solutions

Less than 10 percent of metro area jobs are accessible by public transit. That needs to change. A robust transportation network has historically been critical to KC’s growth and vitality. This remains true today.

We will advocate for and support initiatives that enhance regional surface transportation, rail, and aviation efforts essential to sustain a dynamic business climate. A more connected KC region will spur growth and prosperity.

Co-Champions Michael DeBacker (Burns & McDonnell) and Scott Smith (retired-HNTB) have formed an advisory committee to carry this important goal forward.

Aviation Committee

The Aviation Committee serves as an advisory group and information sharing system for the new single terminal at KCI and for other aviation issues affecting our region. Various topics of discussion include the terminal design, financing, updates from the FAA, and contract updates. At each meeting we have an update from Councilwoman Jolie Justus, Chair of the City of KCMO's Aviation Committee; an update from Edgemoor, and an update from the City's Aviation Department.

Google

The KC Chamber is one of five global partners selected by Google to help develop a new urban mobility platform. The Chamber fielded more than 50 requests from local businesses and government entities in the first round of development, and is looking forward to working with Google on additional phases of platform development.

Advocacy

The Chamber consistently advocates for transportation infrastructure, works with the Missouri and Kansas Departments of Transportation to represent the region's transportation needs, and has hosted the U.S. Secretary of Transportation for important discussions..
