For too long, violent crime has been a reality in our communities, and this week’s mass shooting at Union Station brought this reality closer to all our hearts. United Way of Greater Kansas City and the Chiefs Create #KCStrong Fund

Like so many of you, we are devasted by the tragic events at yesterday’s parade.  United Way acted quickly to help our community turn its outrage into action and to begin building a path forward that is rooted in healing and restoration. This afternoon we launched the #KCStrong Fund in partnership with the Chiefs with the aim of raising funds to support the victims of yesterday’s tragedy and their families, investing in violence prevention and response organizations including mental health support services, and supporting first responders including the police. Today, as our community came together to celebrate, a few made the choice to inflict fear and pain. This disruption of a joyful moment for our city results in a lot of emotion, including anger, fear and grief. We grieve for the victims and their families who faced the unimaginable today. Our thoughts are with you as well as all of those affected by this senseless tragedy. REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL FOR SECURITY OFFICER SERIVCES: The Kansas City Public Library (“Library”) invites qualified applicants to submit proposals for security officer services for the Library. Proposals may be submitted in hard print copy and/or email to be received no later than 5:00 pm (Local Time), Friday, March 8, 2024.  All correspondence should be marked “KCPL SECURITY OFFICER SERVICES”.
