FROM THE KC CHAMBER'S PRESIDENT AND CEO

There’s still time to register for the KC Chamber’s annual POWER of Diversity event this coming Wednesday, July 28, from 8 to 9 a.m. It’s virtual and it’s free!

One of the highlights for me will be the keynote address from former KC Chamber Chair and former Chief Financial Officer for Black & Veatch, Karen Daniel. Karen’s focus will be on service, a subject she knows well – she’s one of the most giving people I know. (She’s also now part of the Royals ownership group. And, as a member of the KC Parks Board, was one of the folks instrumental in the renovation and revitalization of the Liberty Memorial. She says she still gets a thrill every time she passes by that historic monument.)

You’ll also meet our three ACE Award winners – mid- to senior-level diverse managers who’ve had an amazing impact on the companies for whom they work. You’ll also hear the stories of our first-ever Nonprofit Champion of Diversity and Champion of Diversity Award winners.

It promises to be an interesting and inspiring morning. If you’d like to sit in on the Livestream, click here to register, and we’ll see you Wednesday!

CHIEFS KICKOFF LUNCHEON

Chiefs fans! Get your tickets now for the 2021 Chiefs Kickoff Luncheon, Thursday, August 19, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Downtown Marriott, 200 W. 12th St. There are only 100 seats remaining before we hit our COVID capacity. Join us as Mitch Holthus, the Voice of the Kansas City Chiefs, leads us through our program. Hear remarks from Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt, General Manager Brett Veach and Head Coach Andy Reid. Due to COVID-19 protocols, Chiefs players will be with us but not seated at tables this year. The Chiefs Cheerleaders and Chiefs Rumble drumline will still get you psyched for the season! Tickets are $75 each, and tables of 8 are $1,000. Register here and read more about our COVID protocols and what to expect. Thank you to our Kickoff Sponsors Arvest Bank, Kansas City Chiefs, Lockton, and Polsinelli. Thank you to our Production Sponsor Harvest Productions. Thank you to our Touchdown Sponsors Bayer, Grant Thornton, Honeywell, and JE Dunn Construction.

VIRTUAL HEALTH CAREER FAIR

Polish your resume and join Welcoming KC, Children's Mercy, and Vibrant Health, for a virtual career fair on August 11, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will be held on Remo, a virtual event platform that will allow job seekers to move around from employer to employer and to interface directly with those employers via video chat. You’ll find small- to large-sized employers, and a wide range of entry level to highly skilled positions. Register here to connect with employers from all over the Metro.

NEIGHBORHOOD NETWORKING: PATIO SERIES – KC PET PROJECT

It’s hard to say no to our cutest Neighborhood Networking so far: join us Friday, August 20, 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., at KC Pet Project’s new campus near Swope Park at 7077 Elmwood. Tour the new campus, make great connections, and of course enjoy plenty of coffee. Register here. It’s free for members and just $15 for non-members. Invite your friends! The KC Chamber's 2021 Neighborhood Networking Sponsors are Menlo and Unbound. The KC Chamber's 2021 overall networking sponsors are Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City, Delta Dental, and Mazuma.

COME ON, WHO’S CELEBRATING?

Give us a heads up if your company is celebrating a big anniversary in 2021. For the Chamber’s September GROW KC digital magazine, we want to feature as many of these companies and organizations as possible. Pause the party for just a minute and send an email to info@kcchamber.com to let us know who you are and what you’re celebrating, and we’ll circle back with you to get more information. Thank you and congratulations in advance!
