FROM THE KC CHAMBER'S PRESIDENT AND CEO

Congratulations to former Chamber Board member Warren Erdman, sworn in last week as the newest member of Missouri’s Highways and Transportation Commission. The ceremony took place in the KC Chamber Board Room immediately following the news conference where Governor Mike Parson announced his hopes for the upcoming special legislative session and proposed tax cut legislation.

Warren’s appointment is significant because it means Kansas City will once again have representation on the body responsible for planning and maintaining the state’s highway network, as well as the other modes of transportation in Missouri.

He currently serves as executive vice president administration and corporate affairs for Kansas City Southern.

His previous experience as Chief of Staff for former U.S. Senator Christopher Bond has served the Chamber well. Warren’s been an important advocate and strategist for Chamber priorities in Jefferson City over the years. We’ve greatly appreciated his advice and wisdom and wish him the best in his new role.

In the State of Kansas, meanwhile, I’ve been appointed to serve on the Infrastructure Hub Advisory Group by Kansas Transportation Secretary Julie Lorenz. The group will oversee and advise what’s been called “The Hub” – which will identify state and regional infrastructure priorities, strategize as to how to maximize investment opportunities, and promote best practices in securing and distributing funding.

Kansas is slated to receive close to $3.8 billion in direct funds for transportation, water, energy, and broad band projects. The state could potentially receive more by applying for competitive grants. I’m looking forward to serving and to advocate for projects in our region.
