FROM THE KC CHAMBER'S PRESIDENT AND CEO

With the surge of the COVID Delta variant and our local hospitals overtaxed, our member businesses are once again struggling with uncertainty. Preliminary results from our current COVID survey show that some businesses are delaying a return to the office while others are considering mandating vaccinations but are unsure of the legal issues involved.

If you haven’t yet completed the survey, there’s still time - here’s the link. Your information will provide a snapshot of how our member businesses are responding to the Delta surge as well as the outlining the issues you’re facing as we continue to navigate this pandemic.

Then join us virtually on Tuesday, August 31 at 10:00 a.m. to learn how to increase vaccination rates in your workplace. I’ll share the final results of our COVID survey and how it’s affecting our business community. A legal expert from Stinson will provide an overview of the legal considerations that employers are currently facing. And, finally, we’ll hear from four area business leaders about innovative steps they’ve taken to communicate with and encourage their employees to get the vaccine.

This is important information you won’t want to miss. Click here to register for the August 31 event. We hope to see you there.

TACO ROYALE & WELCOMING WEEK

It wasn’t a shock when Forbes named Kansas City, Kansas as America’s taco capital back in March of this year. Now is your chance to enjoy KCK’s tacos and support immigrant-owned small businesses at the Taco Royale Taco Crawl, Friday, September 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Early bird registration is $25 until September 1, then it’s $30. Each of our 15 participating restaurants will be providing a taco of their choice for attendees to enjoy as they explore Central Avenue. Admission covers the cost of one serving at each participating restaurant, a map, and a bracelet identifying you as a Taco Royale participant. This event kicks off Welcoming Week, which runs September 10-19. Thanks to our partners Welcoming KC, the Central Avenue Betterment Association, and Open Belly Podcast.

GO GLOBAL KC 2021

COVID-19 has meant nearly a year and a half of a global supply chain disruption. We see it reflected in the price of construction materials, availability of certain foods, inventory of new vehicles, and more. This year, World Trade Center Kansas City’s premier event, Go Global KC, focuses on how and when the supply chain could bounce back. Register here for the September 23 event, at Summit Tech Academy, 110 NW Technology Parkway in Lee’s Summit. We name the 2021 Economic Development Agency of the Year and the 2021 Service Provider of the Year, plus you can take part in breakout sessions with World Trade Centers from Canada, Gibraltar, Philippines, Mexico, and more. Thanks to our Presenting Sponsors Global Prep Squad and University of Central Missouri and our Keynote Presenting Sponsor Black & Veatch Corporation.
