SWOPE HEALTH KICKS OFF NAMING CAMPAIGN FOR PACE KC ADULT WELLNESS CENTER

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Aug. 29, 2022) – Area business leaders and foundations helped Swope Health raise funds while honoring their loved ones and the mission of their organizations at a recent benefit held at the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.  At the event, PACE KC announced the launch of a naming campaign for care rooms within the Adult Wellness Center.

Health Forward Foundation, which pledged more than $100,000 to the PACE KC Adult Wellness Center for programming and staffing, will be recognized with the naming of the “Health Forward Foundation Patio.”  

In addition to Health Forward Foundation Patio commemoration:

• The “Wesley Fields Family Living Room” is named for the PACE KC capital campaign honorary chairman Wesley Fields and his mother, Delores Fields. Wesley Fields is partner in charge of the Kansas City office of Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner LLP, specializing in public finance and corporate transactions.
• A family meeting room in the PACE KC Center will be named for “Mr. & Mrs. Clyde & Josephine McQueen.” Clyde McQueen has served as the CEO of the Full Employment Council for more than 35 years.
• The medical clinic will be named the “Mabee Foundation Medical Clinic.” The Mabee Foundation, headquartered in Midland, Texas, had issued a challenge grant of $1.4 million. The campaign met the challenge, raising the more than $1 million required ahead of the deadline. 

“The continued support of the PACE KC program recognizes the need for eldercare services as well as the generosity and faith of the community,” said Jeron Ravin, J.D., President and CEO of Swope Health. “We appreciate the trust of the community and will be proud to unveil the names of our community leaders throughout the center when it opens in 2023.”

In January, Swope Health kicked off a capital campaign to raise funds for the $14 million PACE KC Adult Wellness Center.  PACE KC will be the first PACE program in Jackson County and the second in the state.

PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) is a national program offering a full range of health and wellness services for people age 55 and up. PACE aims to address the needs of the whole person – physical, emotional and psychological – a team of providers works across many disciplines to help PACE members achieve and maintain their health and wellness goals all while helping them age gracefully in their home communities.

The Adult Wellness Center, now under construction at 4141 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway, will serve as the central hub for most PACE services. The facility will feature clinical spaces to provide primary care, medical services and other therapies. It also includes a day center, rehabilitation gym, computer lab, library, arts and crafts room, bathing suite, low-stimulation memory care area, outdoor recreation space and meeting rooms.

With facility construction underway, the campaign now seeks funding for staffing and programming.
