NourishKC is Reopening our Dining Room

NourishKC is excited to announce that Kansas City Community Kitchen will reopen its dining room Thanksgiving Day! With declining new COVID cases, increased vaccination rates, and our continuing commitment to guest and volunteer safety, NourishKC is ready to reopen the dining room at 50% capacity.

Our core values prioritize dining with dignity. We are thankful for our committed volunteers who make this possible. During the entirety of the pandemic, NourishKC’s staff and board prioritized everyone’s health and safety by continuing to provide nutritious meals on a carry-out basis. But, with the weather turning colder, it is time to once again provide a warm, safe place for guests to enjoy a hot meal.

Reopening means that we will have an increased needs for volunteers. The safety of our volunteers is our top priority. There are many procedures we are following that are different from how we have previously run the dining room. We are asking all guests to wash their hands and wear a mask as they enter the building. We will continue to use disposable plates, forks, and bottled water to reduce exposure from dishes. We are also increasing the frequency and thoroughness of our cleaning procedures in the dining room. This is why we need your help!

Our 8:00-11:00 am shift will continue to accommodate 8 volunteers, while our 10:30 am-2:30 pm shift will increase to 15 volunteers. All volunteers will participate in a pre-shift orientation to review new service procedures. If you are interested in volunteering with us, please sign up today!
