LEAWOOD, Kan. (Jan. 21, 2020) – Dickson-Diveley Orthopaedics, Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Consultants (OSMC) and Apex Orthopedics & Sports Medicine will complete a merger of their 3 practices effective July 1, of 2021. The newly formed entity will be called The Kansas City Orthopedic Alliance and will represent the largest group of independent, orthopedic specialists in the KC Metro.

David Kaplan, has been hired as the CEO of the newly formed entity and since his arrival in mid-December he’s been hard at work putting the pieces in place to execute a seamless transition. “As a graduate of the University of Kansas, it is quite an honor to return to the area with my family and help lead something so transformative in the delivery of musculoskeletal care. I was fortunate to be part of something special in Colorado as I oversaw a large Orthopedic group that practiced in over 20 locations. These three established KC practices really do represent the pinnacle of care delivery and are full of fantastic providers who only want to find ways to become better. We can’t wait to get started, get better and raise the bar.”

“The merger of Dickson-Diveley and Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Consultants signaled an opportunity to do something terrific, innovative and new in KC,” stated Dr. Scott Abraham of Apex Orthopedics & Sports Medicine. “Our practice has been on the cutting edge of care delivery through the utilization of new technologies and our patient-centric approach to treatment. We are excited to be a foundational member of the KC Ortho Alliance and we believe our combined resources, locations and access will provide many of the things patients have been asking for. This is a game-changer for this orthopedic community and we couldn’t be more excited to get started!"

“We believe this newly formed Alliance is the beginning of something truly special that may eventually allow us to expand our services to more of a regional footprint,” added Kaplan. “Patients have choices when it comes to the treatment of musculoskeletal injuries and with that in mind, we’re positioning ourselves to be the number one resource they can turn too in KC and beyond.”

The combined practice will have locations in Leawood and Overland Park, Kansas, as well as Kansas City and Belton, Missouri. The newly formed group will initially comprise 35 physicians and more than 150 employees and support staff.
