Free COVID clinics focus on local, minority communities

Kansas City, Mo., April 8, 2020 – Nurture KC and Walgreens are hosting two free COVID vaccine clinics on:

  • Friday, April 9 from 1 to 4 p.m.
  • Saturday, April 10 from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Both clinics will take place at El Centro’s Academy for Children, located at 1340 S. 30th Street in Kansas City, KS. These clinics are open to Kansas residents age 18 and older. No appointment is needed and walk-ins are welcome. However, the public also can schedule an appointment via this web site or by scanning the below QR code with their mobile phone.

Recipients will receive the one-shot dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, and will need to bring a form of ID (e.g., driver’s license) and insurance card if they have one. No one will be turned away – even if they do not have insurance.

“Minority communities have been hit disproportionally hard by COVID, and vaccinations in these communities continue to lag behind, unfortunately. We know lack of vaccine accessibility is a key factor. That's why we teamed with Walgreens to sponsor these free clinics in communities where vaccines are needed most right now,” says Tracy Russell, Executive Director of Nurture KC.
