KANSAS CITY, Mo. – On Thursday, the Kansas City Chiefs announced that Ted Crews has been promoted to Executive Vice President of Communications.

“Hiring talented individuals and recognizing them for their contributions to our success is one of the most rewarding parts of our jobs,” Chiefs President Mark Donovan said. “Ted joined the team 10 years ago and over that time has been an invaluable resource for ownership, our executive team, our coaches and our players as they navigate the ever-evolving sports and entertainment media landscape. Additionally, he and his staff have evolved into active, integral contributors across all aspects of our business, both on- and off-the-field. We are excited to have Ted continuing to lead our communications efforts moving forward.”

Crews was originally hired as the club’s Vice President of Communications in 2012. Entering his 24th season in the NFL and his 10th with the Chiefs in 2021, he serves as the primary media contact and spokesperson for the team across both the football and business operations, while also focusing on media scheduling, preparation and speech writing. He serves as the club’s key liaison between team executives, coaches and players with local, national and international media members and works closely with Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt, Head Coach Andy Reid, General Manager Brett Veach, President Mark Donovan and the club’s key players to unify messaging.

Crews has been honored by the Fritz Pollard Alliance Foundation three times at the Johnnie L. Cochran Jr. Salute to Excellence Awards Ceremony for his outstanding work and success in an executive position in the NFL. He has been invited to serve as a captain on the NFL’s Super Bowl public relations staff 10 times and has worked a number of Pro Bowls. Before joining the Chiefs, Crews spent three seasons (2009-11) as Senior Director of Communications for the St. Louis Rams and four seasons (2005-08) as Football Communications Manager with the Atlanta Falcons after serving five seasons (2000-04) as the Media Relations Assistant and two seasons as an intern for the Carolina Panthers. Crews graduated from South Carolina State University in 1999 with a bachelor’s degree and received the school’s Distinguished Young Alumnus Award in 2014.
