Chiefs Announce Four Promotions to Vice President Roles

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – On Thursday, the Kansas City Chiefs announced the promotion of four individuals to vice president roles. Nick Capo has been promoted to Vice President of Event Operations; Brad Gee has been promoted to Vice President of Football Communications; Kevin Higgins has been promoted to Vice President of Information Technology; and Jeremy Slavens has been promoted to Vice President of Arrowhead Events.

“Finding, developing and retaining talented individuals in the organization continues to be one of our areas of focus, and we are excited to announce the promotions for Nick, Brad, Kevin and Jeremy,” Chiefs President Mark Donovan said. “Today’s news is a reflection of the hard work, dedication and pursuit of excellence that each of them displays within their department on a daily basis and we look forward to their continued success as part of our leadership team moving forward.”

Nick Capo originally joined the Chiefs in 2018 as the Director of Event Operations and enters his fourth season with the club in 2021. In his role, he works with team leadership on planning, directing and managing the day-to-day operations of events for the Kansas City Chiefs and GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, including football games, concerts and other special events. Capo provides operational support for key internal initiatives and special projects, which have included the team’s back-to-back Super Bowl appearances, as well as serving on the internal committee that launched Chiefs Fit, the team-themed state-of-the-art fitness, health and wellness center. Prior to joining the Chiefs, Capo served as Senior Director of Ballpark Operations and Events for the San Diego Padres and Petco Park (2014-17). Capo spent 10 years (2005-14) in Miami working in various managerial and director-level roles with both the Miami Dolphins and what is now Hard Rock Stadium, including overseeing the club’s premier fundraising event. He has worked a number of notable events in his career, including nine Super Bowls, the MLB All-Star Game, WrestleMania XXVII and multiple major stadium concert tours. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sports management from Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas. Nick and his wife Kollisa have three children, Chloe, Cole and Cash.

Brad Gee began his career with the Chiefs as a public relations intern in 2009 before being hired full-time that same year. He now enters his 13th season with the club in 2021. In 2011 he was promoted to Manager of Football Communications and continued his ascent in football communications as Assistant Director of Football Communications (2014-15), most recently serving as Director of Football Communications (2016-20). Gee works closely with the team’s players, coaches, personnel executives and football operations departments on numerous projects and initiatives, including interviews, feature sit-downs, media preparation, team partnership obligations and special projects. He handles the club’s day-to-day media operations and logistics, serves as the lead point of contact for media covering the team and is the main liaison for the club’s internal content teams. Prior to joining the Chiefs, Gee served as a communications intern with the Denver Broncos (2008) and was a training camp intern with the Broncos (2006-07). He has worked nine Super Bowls, two Pro Bowls and one AFC Championship Game as a member of the NFL’s public relations staff. Gee graduated with a bachelor’s degree in communications from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, and worked in the Cyclones’ athletics communications office for four years. He and his wife Megan have two children, Henry and Charlie.

Kevin Higgins enters his fifth season with the club in 2021 after being hired as the Director of Information Technology in 2017 and adding the title of Club Information Security Officer to his duties in 2019. In his current position he has been overseeing the operations, management and security of information assets and technology resources for the club as well as Hunt Midwest. Prior to joining the Chiefs, Higgins held multiple director-level and executive roles in the information technology space, including two years as the Chief Technology Officer at Ad Astra Information Systems in Overland Park, Kansas (2015-17), two years as IT Director for Society of Teachers of Family Medicine in Leawood, Kansas (2013-15), and nearly six years as Director of E-Commerce and Marketing Solutions at Collective Brands, Inc. in Topeka, Kansas (2007-13). He made three professional stops in Atlanta, Georgia, in various IT spaces, including serving as Chief Architect and Owner for Digital Research Enterprises, Inc., a family-owned professional services, software development and business consulting firm (1995-03). Higgins graduated with a bachelor’s in computer science from Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, Georgia. He is married to his wife, Heather.

Jeremy Slavens enters his 19th season with the club in 2021, most recently serving seven years (2014-20) as Director of Events for the club. In his current role he is responsible for all aspects of Arrowhead Events, the team’s non-football revenue-generating events business, which accounts for many of the organization’s largest events, including major concert tours, motorsports events, international soccer matches, college football games, stadium festivals, 5Ks, the team’s training camp and corporate events. In addition, he oversees the event sales, corporate event operations and stadium tour teams. Slavens originally joined the club in 2000 as a sponsorship intern, before being hired in 2004 as a Sponsorship Coordinator. He went on to become Marketing Manager (2006-09) and then added special events to his resume (2009-10) before being named Director of Marketing and Special Events (2011-14). Prior to entering the NFL full-time, he was a Sponsorship Coordinator for the Kansas City Wizards (now Sporting KC). Slavens graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri. He served on the bid committee to bring the 2023 NFL Draft to Kansas City and currently sits on the KC2026, Kansas City’s bid committee for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He and his wife Tammy have one son, Henry.
