KC Chamber Announces Top 10 Small Businesses, Finalists for Small Business of the Year

The Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce the 2021 Top 10 Small Businesses in the Small Business Celebration. These businesses are competing to be named Small Business of the Year and take home the prestigious Mr. K Award.

They are, in alphabetical order:

“Small businesses are the backbone of Kansas City. It has been an incredibly challenging year and it’s so exciting to see these great small businesses thriving,” said Joe Reardon, President & CEO of the KC Chamber. “We were so impressed and wowed by all of our candidates this year, across all industries.”

The Small Business of the Year will be announced Thursday, June 24, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., at the Small Business Celebration Awards Luncheon at the Downtown Marriott. This luncheon will be in-person for candidates and sponsors, and live-streamed to the public. In addition to Small Business of the Year, the following specialty awards will also be presented:

  • The KC Chamber Emerging Business Award
  • The KC Chamber Small Business Equity Award
  • The KC Chamber Weida Award for International Small Business of the Year
  • The KC Chamber Legacy of Kansas City Award

For the second year in a row, the Chamber surprised the candidates over Zoom along with Small Business Celebration Media Sponsor Startland News, then announced the Top 10 on social media throughout the day on Friday, May 28.

The KC Chamber Small Business Celebration is recognized as one of the largest Chamber small business celebrations in the United States. The Small Business of the Year receives the coveted Mr. K Award, named for Ewing Kauffman, entrepreneur and philanthropist. To be named Small Business of the Year signifies that a company has shown growth or sustainability of their business with strong employee relations and a record of giving back to the community, while prioritizing diversity and inclusion.
