KC Chamber Announces Small Business Superstars Across Kansas City

One of the oldest and largest small business celebrations in the country just got even bigger.

The Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce has expanded the Small Business Celebration to recognize more than 1,200 of KC’s small businesses as Small Business Superstars, to kick off the Chamber’s annual event.

Kansas Citians across the region submitted their favorite small businesses to the Chamber, which then named those businesses “Small Business Superstars.” Businesses must meet the following criteria to be named a Superstar:

  • Be a small business with fewer than 250 employees
  • Be a for-profit business
  • Not a franchise
  • Headquartered in Greater KC

“By showcasing KC’s Small Business Superstars, we want to celebrate them for showing resilience and innovation despite the impacts of COVID-19 over the past year – Chamber member of not,” said Vicky Kulikov, the KC Chamber’s Small Business Director. “Small businesses have taken the brunt of the pandemic. Hopefully putting that spotlight on these businesses, especially minority-owned businesses, brings them some well-deserved recognition.”

The Chamber and The Porter House KC will bring together the virtual Superstar Meetup, April 6. Meetup, April 6, 10 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. This virtual networking event is exclusively for Superstars, moderated by Joel Goldberg and features a panel of Small Business Superstars including:

  • Wesley Hamilton - Wesley Hamilton, LLC
  • Juaquan Herron – 2923 Comics
  • Sam Kulikov - Social Apex
  • Katie Mabry van Dieren - The Strawberry Swing
  • Deanna Munoz - Midwest Chicana Brand
  • Godfrey Riddle - Civic Saint

All of the Small Business Superstars are now invited to become Chamber members if they are not currently members and apply for the 2021 Small Business of the Year.

For more than 30 years, the Chamber has honored small businesses that best exemplify the values of Ewing Marion Kauffman: strong employee relations, growth, and a commitment to giving back to the community. Applications for the Mr. K Award are open through April 30.
