The Kansas City Artists Coalition Board of Directors has named Courtney Wasson the new Executive Director of the Kansas City Artists Coalition.

The Board of Directors would like to welcome our new Executive Director Courtney Wasson to the KCAC! We are very excited to work with her and under her leadership watch the organization grow and continue to serve the community. Mrs. Wasson brings an exceptional skill set to this position. She is an excellent communicator, grassroots organizer with strong analytical and managerial skills, has curatorial experience and deep ties to the Kansas City arts community. Having her serve as Executive Director is the beginning of a new chapter for the Kansas City Artists Coalition and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have her on board. Welcome!” ~ Philipp Eirich, KCAC Board President

Wasson’s background as an executive director, curatorial and gallery experience combined with her advocacy for the arts and artists, will help to further advance the mission of the organization that is approaching its 50th anniversary.

Wasson states, “As Executive Director of KCAC, I aspire to have a positive impact within and around the Kansas City region — a place where culture thrives, that is welcome to all, and that anyone would be proud to call home. It is my want and goal to have a positive impact on our community. It is my intention to use my skills and experience to honor KCAC’s history and goals moving forward.”

Wasson recently served as the Executive Director of Studios Inc, where she helped grow and stabilize the organization both financially and programmatically by developing impactful relationships and community programming, in addition to working collaboratively with other organizations. She has called Kansas City her home for the past 21 years. Her alma mater is the Kansas City Art Institute, where she received her BFA with honors majoring in both Art History and Printmaking. Her career path has allowed her to cultivate a wide skill set and hone a unique multi-faceted experience.

Wasson succeeds Executive Director Marissa Starke, who has served the Kansas City Artists Coalition for more than 13 years and assumed the role in 2019 after the departure of Janet Simpson.
