SIGN UP FOR CENTURIONS TRIVIA NIGHT BENEFITTING TRIP SCHOLARSHIPS (ALL ACTIVES, ALUMNI, AND GUESTS

Centurions Trivia Night is going virtual! Gather your smartest friends, colleagues, and classmates in teams of eight and join us virtually for Centurions Trivia on Thursday, November 5 from 6-8 p.m.

The cost per team of 8 is $160, or $20/person. If you don't have a team, sign up anyway and we will assign you one! A 50/50 raffle will be available. Register here >>

There are still slots open for the blood drive today and tomorrow— tell your friends because this drive is open to the public! 

The Community Blood Center needs our help. As the region begin to reopen and hospitals anticipate the return of elective surgeries, the CBC has issued an urgent call for donors and the blood supply remains low. Two volunteer hours will be given to every Centurion who participates in the drive. Find more information and register here >>

LUC: JOE PALMER

Please join us in a lunch event up close with Superintendent of Guadalupe Centers High School, Joe Palmer. Mr. Palmer oversees a school system that includes three locations with about 1,300 students from Pre-K through high school and over 150 staff. The Guadalupe Education System first opened its Charter School, Alta Vista High School, in 1990. The Charter is sponsored by the University of Central Missouri and is one of the largest Charter school programs in the Kansas City area. Mr. Palmer has an admirable record of working with diverse student populations, improving student achievement and strong staff/community engagement. Register here >>

There are several contact-free, small group, or virtual volunteer opportunities that are now open to both classes and are on a first-come, first-served basis. Opportunities are open “year-round” for everyone, which we will track by program year (Fall: July 1-June 30 and Spring: Feb 1-Jan 31).

Ready to serve? Check out VolunteerMark for a few opportunities that are still in need of volunteers. Check the calendar regularly as new projects are added weekly and look for newsletter announcements or GroupMe to sign-up for projects in which spots still need to be filled.

CRUCIAL CONVERSATION WITH GAYLENE CROUSER, STANDING ROCK SIOUX TRIBE

Gaylene serves as the executive director for the Kansas City area’s only multi-purpose social service agency for American Indians, the Kansas City Indian Center. The Center’s mission is to encourage social, educational, and economic advancement of the American Indian community by promoting traditional and cultural values. Gaylene has lived in the Kansas City area since 1999 and, prior to taking over as the Center’s executive director in 2012, she volunteered with the organization in various capacities.
