CONGRATULATIONS ORA REYNOLDS, 2020 BERNARD POWELL AWARD RECIPIENT

We are pleased to announce Ora Reynolds as the 2020 recipient of the Bernard Powell Award. Ora's community service stretches from corporate boards to numerous charitable and civic organizations. She is currently chair of the board for Starlight Theatre and a member of the KU Advancement Board. She was selected as one of Kansas City's Women Who Mean Business. She also serves on the executive committee of the KCADC board, enticing people to move to Kansas City, and serves as an advisory board member of Commerce Bank.

The following excerpt from KC Relo Magazine highlights many of Ora's outstanding contributions.

When asked about Kansas City's arts and culture scene, she doesn't hesitate. "We have so many amazing theater options, from Starlight to the Kauffman Center. We have opportunities for cutting edge theater, for Broadway, and everything in between. We also have a world-class art museum. When people come here, they'll find that we don't have water, we don't have mountains, but we have all those other things."

Hunt Midwest is changing the face of Kansas City one community at a time, and Ora Reynolds is spearheading the movement. The fabric of the city is stronger because of her passion and leadership. With Reynolds at the helm, Kansas City can look forward to a future that fully embraces all the word community stands for: a unified body of unique individuals, coming together to share common interests within a broader social setting. Hunt Midwest's residential developments are part of what makes Kansas City so special. They're the reason Kansas Citians call this place "home."

UPDATED CENTURIONS CANDIDATE INTERVIEW SIGN UPS – READ CAREFULLY

Due to changes to the Centurions program to accommodate the extraordinary circumstances caused by COVID-19, including extending the application deadline to July 1, Centurions candidate interviews will now take place July 6-17. If you had previously signed up to interview during the original interview timeframe, please disregard the June 8-19 interview dates as nothing further is needed. Interviewer spaces have been reduced and limited spots are available. In the event of in-person interviews, this minimizes the number of people gathering and allows for social distancing. Additional details will be emailed out closer to the time of interviews, including Zoom information and interview protocol if we move to virtual interviews. These details will be sent to all interviewers in your group and will include required questions, instructions on parking, arrival time, and conference room (or Zoom) information, as well as more specific information about applicants you will be interviewing.

Be prepared to interview as few as one or as many as five applicants during your selected time slot and stick around following the completion of interviews to debrief with KC Chamber staff. If you need to cancel at any time, please provide at least one week's notice so that we can replace your spot with another interviewer. Don’t forget to hold your time on your calendar.

Ready to sign-up? There are limited timeslots available for actives so sign-up for ONE slot as soon as you can here >> Interview slots are limited, and once all fall actives have been given the opportunity to sign-up to interview, any remaining timeslots will be open for people to take multiple shifts. If you are a graduating second-year, please still sign up under “Active.”

SPRING

CRUCIAL CONVERSATIONS

Please join us on Friday, June 12 from 12-1 as we come together as a cohort to share and support each other through these challenging times. The weight of the world is especially heavy, with the death of George Floyd among other horrific acts of blatant racism in America. This time is not meant to solution, but to allow ourselves to feel, and be supported by this incredible community. We want you to know that your fellow Centurions see you, hear you, and stand with you. Register here >>

MARK YOUR CALENDARS - RETREAT RESCHEDULED FOR JUNE 24-26

Exciting news! Rain or shine, virtual or in-person, the show must go on. We have confirmed that the Spring Cohort will kick off this year on Wednesday, June 24 through Friday, June 26.

In times of great change it takes great leaders to show the way. We, Centurions, have the unique opportunity to demonstrate how to lead in our communities through unprecedented times. As we look ahead to the next year, the only certainty that we have is that we will continue to experience tremendous change in our work lives, home lives and social lives in the months to come. Therefore, we (your retreat planning committee) are taking a whole new approach to the classic Centurions Retreat and creating a virtual experience you won’t forget. While we’re sad to miss our time at The Elms, we guarantee to make retreat meaningful, memorable and keeping in the traditions of the program in a radical new format!

THE LATEST AND GREATEST FROM YOUR COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP COMMITTEE

Even during a pandemic, the Spring Community Leadership Committee is committed to providing access and insight. We're coming up with creative ways for you to engage with regional leaders, and learn more about yourself as a leader - including a biweekly personality or development quiz. Share your results, get to know your fellow Spring classmates, and join the conversation! Check out our Learn.Serve.Lead page.
